Man, there was some wrestling on TV the other night... I swear it used to look more real.
a) Wrestling back in the day had more guys with world experience.. they would have a different flavour to what they did. WWE has virtually killed that in favour of bringing up guys in their own training camps, training them all to wrestle in the same style, and tweaking one or two things and then blowing a tonne of cash on promoting them as the next "superstar".
That, and they are more keen on running skits and backstage shit than ever.. they employ tv writers to write the scripts for WWE guys to follow during interviews. This is why everything appears more contrived, guys are concentrating on remembering lines instead of speaking from their own mind.
I still watch wrestling when I can, but it's not going to go back to how it was in the Attitude Era (1998) or before then.
TNA is where it's at now.
Are you kidding me? Impact is barely watchable. I won't watch it unless I'm in the company of good friends that don't mind talking over the fucking awful commentary and the 20 minute interviews. I do however think the short promo videos with behind the scenes info on individual wrestlers are a definite highlight. TNA need to drop some of their no-talents like The Beautiful People's manager and concentrate on finding new talent instead of relying on WWE/WCW castoffs. It's got to be out there somewhere.
