Do you like it there Cissi? It's a little too clinical for me, I've never felt like it had any personality or warmth to it. But sometimes I wonder if I'm just ridiculously fussy

Exomod is okay, although it's not my favourite cafe - I agree about the lack of personality or warmth. I think it's to do with the artwork that they have on display; it's too tacky and I'd rather see pieces of original artwork than replicas of celebrities lining the walls. On the other hand, their food and coffee is decent I had a nice lamb roll for lunch. Speaking of cafes, I think one of my favourite cafes is the Wild Fig. Lovely decor, free wi-fi and some awesome food and drinks...I could never go past their white hot chocolate!

The Wild Fig is at 33 West Coast Drive, south of Hillarys Boat Harbour. Here's their website: http://www.wildfig.com.au/It's right opposite the ocean as well so there are some beautiful views. I love going there around sunset.

everything that is good is good.
or goo. I did like how we have managed to make this thread mildly useful with a discussion of Cafes. most excellent.
I too also find Exomod to be not the best. I much prefer Soto just a few blocks towards the city from the Mt Lawley one.. that one is pretty rad...

Yes. A potato maze in fact! a) Open shoebox and create a cardboard maze in there with another sheet of card/stickytape/scissors. b) Plant potatoes (in a small pot with soil) in said shoebox with the lid on. c) Put a smallish hole in the side of the box and face it towards the light. d) The potato's curly sprouty bits will grow through the maze and towards the light! e) Children's faces go WOW = happy me Everyone ought to have sprouting potatoes for this very reason

Coconut cake = go. I just pulled it out of the oven, tomorrow I'll ice it (probably with that lemon icing) and taste it. It's a simple butter cake (no cocoa or spices); it was a touch more oily than my usual cakes when I took it out of the tin, which could be caused by having less dry stuff in there (missing 1/4 cup of cocoa), or from using coconut milk instead of cows' milk (maybe it has a higher fat content). And it's more coconut cream actually, as I forgot to shake the tin before opening it. Anyways, should be interesting.

I certainly did. It was nice, but not as coconutty as I'd thought it would be - main flavour was the icing. Basically it seems to be a fairly generic replacement for milk... so was that rockmelon, come to think of it. Half a cup of any liquid seems to get the job done well enough.
I wish it was proper cooking weather this week, dammit. This heat's melting my brain. I miss living in houses with air conditioning.
