Yeah I dig that Bangers. They say it's quite possible to teach yourself to lucid dream, pretty much whenever you want. There are exercises an' shit to try.

I was actually thinking about this the other morning. And as I was I could hear things. Very random things. Strange things being yelled in strange voices. No visuals. Just odd phrases.

I had a dreams that Bubs and Lieutenant Daniels found my belt, but it wasn't really my belt, that Daniels motherfucker tried to rip me off. Then he made me give him a lift somewhere in HIS car, outrageous.

I love it when characters from The Wire show up in my dreams.

Sounds like hypnagogia? It's quite an interesting phenomenon: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia

--

I had an interesting dream last night that I went to heaven. Firstly, I had to sign a document that was covered in yellow fur and it had my name printed in fancy, looped writing at the top.

Heaven was like a massive, golden palace with a multitude of corridors. Each corridor took you out to one of many environments. Some were underwater, some were alpine, and there was even a water-park theme. Since I was in heaven, I couldn't die and I couldn't get hurt, so I went swimming Highlander-style. I also, for some reason, tore a fence at the waterpark like Shrek just because I could (and I knew it wouldn't cause me any pain). There were lots of people in heaven and it was like a giant party.

Then the dream shifted to where I was in a dimly-lit classroom and we were doing maths. The equation was something like (x+y+x)-(x+y).

Yeah, sounds about right:

Hypnagogic imagery is often auditory or has an auditory component. Like the visuals, hypnagogic sounds vary in intensity from faint impressions to loud noises, such as crashes and bangs (exploding head syndrome). People may imagine their own name called or a doorbell ringing. Snatches of imagined speech are common. While typically nonsensical  and fragmented, these speech events can occasionally strike the individual as apt comments on – or summations of – their thoughts  at the time. They often contain word play, neologisms and made-up names. Hypnagogic speech may manifest as the subject’s own ‘inner voice’, or as the voices of others: familiar people or strangers. More rarely, poetry or music is heard.

And then I found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk

I had a dream last night that involved a Canadian airport, a giant ocean pool, a racist old lady, a group of Muslim black midgets who morphed into Lyndon and friends, and Cim Ciaru playing, except they all looked like that alien opera singer from the Fifth Element

Did it feature pissed-up bogans wandering unsteadily up to Daren Reid at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow, yelling "Play summink by Will Sstoker an' th'Embers!"?

just copied this from my facebook page... what an experience is all i can say! (sleep paralysis)

i was dreaming away, actually the dream placed me on my bed at night and i was on the phone to a friend. my friend then sort of started talking to people in their room sort of thing so i was told to hang on a minute so i was like 'yeah no worries' then i could hear some strange noises, like metal scraping but kind of like a haunting alien scream. it made me miss parts of the conversation then all of a sudden its like something tapped into my brain and the noise of the scream was horrible and it felt like something took over my body, the phone call etc everything and any dream world sound disapeared and my eyes were kind of open but shaking bad being in REM mode i guess. then i sort of start seeing light and all these hellicopters out my window and all i can think of is aliens have paralised me and are going to abduct me and im sort of awake but just cant move, im completely paralised and cant scream either. really really telling myself to just move (i know its not real) i eventually come round and the noises were just passing cars, the bigger noise was just a train and the light in the window was the light from the moon but talk about freaky shit :\

Sleep Paralysis is awful, I've had it twice before and it's basically a bad acid trip where you are paralysed and feel like you're drowning, not recommended. Thankfully you wake up and feel fine but I've never experienced terror like that before, must have taken a few years off my life.

I had a dream the other night that my year 4 classroom (one of those ones with a divider in the middle) got turned into a skate park and I was shredding the shit out of it with Bob Burnquist and Tony Hawk. Guess what I'd been playing.

I dreamt about a massive orchestra made of one-man bands. Guess what I'd been smoking.

It's well worth a try, I used to do that shit all the time and it was always interesting. Always! It took me about two weeks before I began getting any results, but then it gets easier and weirder (in a great way). I miss it, I should get into it again.

I did it for fun, but it's especially great for peeps who have night terrors (or stuff like sleep paralysis, for that matter), because then you can tell yourself that it's a dream, and you can see how whatever it is that's traumatising you is no real threat.

I tried to get into lucid dreaming but I found it really scary, you sit there perfectly still and then your body feels like it's vibrating and you lose sensation from the toes upwards, freaky as shit I always got too scared to get into a dream.

I did have a lucid dream by accident once and it was seriously badass.

I got this a few times when I lived in a party house for a year or so.

Fucking ridiculous. There can be a person centimetres away from you and you can't even reach out and go 'fucking help!'

I still don't know whether the house was haunted or whether I'd reach the limits of mental exploration

sleep paralysis has been historically rendered in art as a demon perched upon one's chest, restricting movement

unsurprisingly too, that's essentially the feeling.

I had sleep paralysis again the other night, I initially panicked but then I tried to calm down and relax and went straight back to sleep (the proper kind).
