Yeah, my reaction too.

Aside from him going a bit over the top and trilling the melody too much (which is rad that he can, but doesn't mean he should), it's pretty fucking spectacular. Even the backing vocals and stuff are spot on.

Nope, that's been on the endless "one day should check out" list for a while tho... I'll give it a go, shall I?

Definitely. In fact, if anyone's been intrigued by this conversation, I have links for most (all >_>) of these albums.

also Lickerr I will make sweet, sweet love to you if you're familiar with Sowiesoso.

Damn, I won't get lucky this morning then... don't know them, but I will check them this weekend... thanks for the heads up! You might want to check this baby, btw:

http://staringapocalypse.blogspot.com/2008/05/boris-with-merzbow-rock-dream.html

Boris with Merzbow are tickling my pickle lately... psychedelia + noise + Japan = fucking YUM

No, Sowiesoso as in the Cluster album!

http://spoiledmetropolis.blogspot.com/2007/05/cluster-sowiesoso-1976.html

Boris and Merzbow album is fucking sweet btw.

A Tab In The Ocean - Nektar

Awesome album.

Being a product of the 80s, I managed to catch him a few times just pre and post Whispering Jack and especially his pub gigs were brilliant. Amazing band and some of the covers he did, such as Long Way to the Top, Women in Uniform and Black Dog were as good as you can get

Quebec - Ween (just rotate all their albums on a fortnightly basis, really)

You can't fight what you can't see - Girls Against boys

Black hours surround you - Minor Ache

Antidotes - foals

Sub pop compilation that came with Mojo mag. Brilliant!

About to hit rotation:

Volume one - She and him

The trials of Van Occupanther - Midlake (curious)

Acid Tongue - Jenny Lewis.

Jungle Blues - CW Stoneking (loved what's on the myspace)
