THEREGGAEJUNKIEJEW knows what's up.

pex, he's a folk singer and guitarist from philly, plays with the war on drugs but has recently attempted a solo career and is signed with matador as of his last album 'childish prodigy'. he's incredible, can finger pick like there ain't no tomorrow and his voice is amazing. he's pretty influenced by the classic rock singers of old. i personally don't dig on classic rock at all though the influences are evident.

check out god is saying this to you... for his exquisite folk stylings, constant hitmaker for an album of constant hits... and his latest matador offering childish prodigy, which took me probably ten listens to get into, but is amazing.

he's the kind of singer that people like even when they're not into this kinda thing. i think maybe you should start with constant hitmaker.

oh and he has a band that he tours with, (kurt vile and the) violators. they released an EP with richie records / testostertunes (get it here). it's a more electric affair and is fairly spacey, you might like that too.

Was it in the what are you listening to thread? I quite like the EP credited to him and the Violators (can't remember the name), and most everything else, but I rarely listen to him. Should rectify.

My wife bought the hunchback e.p. a few months ago, and i'd never really heard of him ,But i have to say i love the record, The other stuff i've heard of his since then seem to be a bit more traditional in the  folky sense. But i;m keen to hear more. Its funny this has been posted here as i was wondering when someone would mention this fella as well.
