yeah good one Pex. This fellow might just take your advice. Its bad jokes like this that are the reason people go to see these cover bands.
Brian,Brian. The babe they called 'Brian', He grew,...grew, grew, and grew--,Grew up to be-- grew up to be A boy called 'Brian'-- A boy called 'Brian'. He had arms... and legs... and hands... and feet, This boy... whose name was 'Brian', And he grew,... grew, grew, and grew-- Grew up to be-- Yes, he

That kind of puts me off the obligatory Lost Saints joke.

its like getting someone a Creed CD for a joke - it may seem funny but you are giving shit bands the last laugh

I've almost bought JoelGuanxi "The best of The Scorpions" as a joke several times.

If I'm being serious, I recommend the following bands as being bands I like and you might too Dete:

The Brow Horn Orchestra
Emperors
The Jackards
Timothy Nelson & The Infidels
The Floors
Screaming Life
Sabretooth Tigers (rarely spotted in their natural habitat these days)
The Autumn Isles
The Spitfires (Hot touring UK band - for some reason they're always touring Perth ;P )
Project Mayhem
Turds of Blokeyo
The Kill Devil Hills
Abbe May & the recently fired Rockin' Pneumonia

Lots more.

when I saw Brow Horn Orchestra setting up a few weeks ago, I was thinking 'here we go - another try-hard quirky uni student band' - I'm pretty sure I was a little right, but was happily surprised with how much I enjoyed them. They have some great catchy songs and fun live.

oi i know the guitarist from v-capri and he is a great guitarist, with a bundle of musical knowledge.
though sadly to say, my parents have told me stories of how they used to sneak into there gigs wen they were around my age.

It's sort of an in-joke. The singer is from Liverpool moved here a couple of years ago, so he talks and sings with a heavy accent. Early reviews accused him of being a mockney.

Pond & Mongrel Country are the two best live bands in Perth.

Along with Taco Leg & Abbe May & the Rocking Pnuemonia.

Project Mayhem without a doubt are one of my favourite/Perth's best live bands.

Others not mentioned yet - Eleventh He Reaches London, Schvendes and The Wednesday Society. The latter two I can't wait to see again at In The Pines.

Tomás Ford, anything with Laith as frontman, Taco Leg, Pond, CEASE, Drowning Horse, Injured Ninja, French Rockets (definitely Perth's best band light-show), Oh! You Pretty Things, Boys Boys Boys, Will Stoker & The Embers, Apricot Rail...

My favourite Perth bands don't necessarily correlate with my favourite live acts... I would rarely listen to a Boys Boys Boys CD but they're incredibly fun in a live setting. Conversely someone like Craig McElhinney is one of the individuals I admire most in the perth scene but his live stuff is much more about sound than sight
