I found the keys to cornerstone in my coffee,
I am generic brand for product of environment,
I get these dreams that roll and shake into pieces,
I pick them up to find that I am wide awake again

Superb turn of events in Hawthorn election. So a few weeks ago, we get a letter from El Presidente' (soon to finish his term) telling us why we shouldn't vote for Geoff Lord. He last was president when we were on the verge of merging and basically up shit creek. He hasn't been a paid up member since he left and basically he has no chance of winning. Our current VP (Newbold) has been in there for six years and a member all his life - so basically having an election would have been a waste of money to hold.
El Presidente' suggested to them both to go halves in the costs (50k). Newbold gave a cheque straight away but Lord didn't (so Kennett gave the cheque back)
So we all get our forms in the mail - all vote and with a couple of weeks to go, Lord pulls out today - wasting the club 50k.
Kennett, of course has been very vocal about the turn of events.
God I love being a Hawk. Its fucking brilliant!!!

Do you think Kennet has been a good thing for the club?
This is a question from an outside observer who really doesn't know what he's _specifically_ done, but he's appeared to be quite vocal about a lot of things.
Is it just talk? or has he pushed things to actually make a difference?

Yeah, I do. An extremely good one. The Tasmania sponsorship deal, is the best one in the AFL. We got 10,000 members from Tassie for it and its a partnership that does more than financially benefit our club. Last year the AFL tried to do a swifty by making Tasmania sponsor Nth Melbourne instead and it was a shitfight but Jeff got them back.
We were in a bad way before he took over and within a few years became the first AFL team to crack the 50,000 member mark. You would not have seen the 08 premiership coming a few years prior and now we're one of the powerhouses on and off the field
He's been a great communicator to his members and he's really promoted the 'club', 'family' etc ethos that a football club should be.
There are so many times (both football and non football) where he's said or suggested things that people straight away say 'dickhead', yet within a couple of years they are seen to be correct. An example was when he came to Perth and told us we our city was embarrassing and boring - he suggested we need small bars an use our lane ways a lot more. He was told to piss off and then we started opening bars down lane ways.
An ideal person in that position is someone who is a brilliant business coordinator and passionate for the organisation.
He's been colourful, embarrassing and all those things that makes football just that bit more interesting. Whats more, he got shit done

At the end of the year and after a season of calling each other fuckwits it seems Duceman and Gee all support the same team and got a good result. Here's to 2012 where we can start it all again! C'arn the Eagles.
Oh and btw aint it nice to see Eddie cry at the GF...
