Good on Comedy Central, they've commissioned 26 new episodes for next year... yay!

i got really pissed when they announced this a couple of years back and went on to make a bunch of terrible movie-length eps

hopefully these will come to fruition and be well written

I agree the new Simpsons aren't that good......but I kind of feel like I owe it to them to just watch them anyway.  Hopefully Futurama will fill the void of actual comedy

Is it true the new eps will feature brand new voice actors for the current characters?  I remember reading about it just after the last movie length ep was released.
I currently hit drums for...

The Autumn Isles | Sea Of Tunes | Some Like It Yacht | The Reductors | The Beat Surrenders

Although Jump The Shark.com appears to have been bought out by Tv Guide...

Recasting

If nothing forces steam from your ears like your favorite actor being recast, this is your category. Remember the backlash from Sarah Chalke replacing Alicia Goranson as "Becky" on Roseanne? How about the battle of the two Dicks (Dick Sargent and Dick York) on Bewitched? Whatever the reason for the actor leaving contract negotiations, rehab the show will never be the same to you again.

Here's a very recent interview with Executive Producer David X. Cohen.

And one of the questions:

Quote

During a contract negotiation impasse last year, there was a possibility that the voice actors were going to be recast. How close did that come to actually happening?

Matt Groening and I tried to stay clear of that as much as possible, since we have to try to make both sides happy in that equation. We have a contract with [the studio] on one hand to make these episodes, and on the other hand, I think our cast is the best voice cast you’re going to find, and I would have been very upset if we had to do the show without them. We just said to everybody involved, “Please, you guys make a deal.” It went right up to the edge as The Simpsons has done a couple of times with Fox beginning the process of recasting the show, but nobody else was actually hired. I think it was ultimately just business — both sides are trying to make the best deal and that causes it to come to a climax. Just to reassure everybody, every single cast member is back. We did not lose a single voice.

And that is all I have to say about that.

I think they do realise that. You seen how much the Simpsons cast are earning per episode? I think Fox are well aware that people would stop watching if Homer's voice changed in the next season. That's why Dan Castellaneta can ask for a dump truck of money for a few hours in the studio each week.
And that is all I have to say about that.

Hey what happened to your reply Ben? Mine makes slightly less sense without yours in front of it.
And that is all I have to say about that.
