Just thought it would be easier to lump em all in the one thread instead of making three different ones for these great bands.

Wolf Parade being my primary love, I can't wait for some new material, which, by all reports, should be with us toward the end of this year (I think).  Apologies to the Queen Mary is one of my all time favourites, and I'm betting that this newy will be just as fucking good based on some of the snippets I've heard and the quality of the side projects.

Sunset Rubdown have a new album out at the end of this year called Random Spirit Lover, which I am excitedly d/ling this very second.  By all reports so far its a fucking cracker, and given the quality of Shut Up I Am Dreaming I can only imagine the audio ecstasy I will be in tonight when I arrive home from work to listen to Spencer Krug's latest masterpiece.

Handsome Furs are perhaps my marginally least favourite of the three, but it is very marginal.  The debut album Plague Park that they released earlier this year was highly enjoyable and a little different to the previous material Dan Boeckner has done with WP, but still very good.

Finally, the other various side projects that float around are, I hear, quite good.  I never got around to listening to Swan Lake, which I think is Krug, Carey Mercer (?) from Frog Eyes and Dan Bejar of Destroyer/New Pornographers, but it is on my to do list.  I hope that we are lucky enough to get a tour sometime in the near future, but until then I'll just be content to bask in the amazingness of all mentioned bands.  <3  -_-

Is Dan Deacon in Wolf Parade?  I'm not too sure that he is.  I thought he was from Baltimore, and WP is Canadian.  Still, he is also very good.

Swan Lake, like most everything on jagjaguwar, is good.

Handsome Furs is my favourite of the lot though, it's hypnotic, desolate and focused. i haven't heard sunset rubdown though.

If DD is getting drunk and having a house party then HF is walking home from the house party with the last of the beers.

Such a good analogy!

Random Spirit Lover is my album of the year.  And this in a year with Battles, new Les Savy Fav, new Liars, Pharoahe Monch and many more.  Such a beautifully constructed and carefully made album.  The effort really shows, and yet it seems to soar effortlessly the vast majority of the time.  Beautiful.  I live in hope of a tour, though the possibility must be ever so slight!

New one is much better I think, and Shut Up I Am Dreaming is a fave of mine.  I'll say it again, Random Spirit Lover is my album of the year.  In fact, I'm gonna go listen right now!

So, I just procured Wolf Parade's new album At Mount Zoomer.  I'm giving it my first listen now, so too early for evaluation just yet.  I'll report back.

I didn't like it initially.  Thought it was ok, but too broody and Sunset Rubdown-esque.  Now, however, after repeated listening I'm really starting to dig it.  Still not as much as Apologies..., but in my book that is a modern day classic.

Haven't heard the new Handsome Furs, which is a omission I intend to correct soon enough, but what I'm really excited about today is the news there is a new Sunset Rubdown album coming out in June (on the 23rd to be precise), called Dragonslayer.  Epic artwork, and it will be an epic album I'm sure:

Spencer Krug is a busy man.  The Swan Lake album is out now too.
