Late to the party on this one but Veckitamest really is a fantastic album, definetly one of the best I've heard this year. Fingers crossed they make it to Perth in the new year.

I've seen the video clip of one of their songs on rage a few times where they are gay little choir boys sitting in a church with glowing cheeks.

The music was simply awful, their girly vocals were so cheesy and lame it just made me want to knock their teeth out.

Yes so I got it the other day and is great I'd give 4/5 cos I expected possibly a couple more upbeat and more pulsating tracks so nearly a 5/5 but one of the best albums of the year for sure. It would be good if these guys could come down for a tour. Would there be enough fans though? I think they could do a show at Amplifier at least to test the waters of there popularity. I just don't think the average joe has heard about these guys thats all...

after yellow house, what gave you the indication it would be more pulsating or upbeat?

kinda eh on this album. 3 of the tracks (you know which ones) are fantastic, the rest not up to the same standard. kinda annoying. kinda

mmm I've probably said this before but my main qualm with veckatimest is the tracking order - the weaker songs are still pretty damn good, but only after numerous listens, meanwhile the straight-out crackers are mostly squeezed right up the start. the euphoric climax moment is placed at track two, which I think is kinda silly. still, a pretty minor complaint... I've listened to this album probably more than anything else this year.

I think the climactic song on the album is perfectly.  It does drag a bit through the mid-range, though.  It requires close listening to truly reveal ritself, as piper said.

Triple J has been playing them a fair bit so I don't think they'll have any troubles drawing a crowd.

Yeah nah they'd pack out somewhere like amps no worries at all, probly metros too, the problem with Perth though is that there are fuck-all good medium-largish-sized venues for bands like Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective (playing at capitol it seems) both of whom are huge and would pull bigass crowds but are not exactly household names a la Coldplay who will fill up Burswood Dome. And Burswood Dome is shit anyway.

Ha I dunno, I'm shit at gauging the popularity of bands. But I don't know many people who haven't at least heard of the Griz, and with substantial promo they'd pique the curiosity of perth's entire indie kid populous I'm sure

Too pronounced to be blamed on the slouchy cut of a T-shirt, too modest in size to be termed a proper beer gut, developed too young to come under the heading of a paunch, the Ralph Kramden is everywhere to be seen lately, or at least it is in the vicinity of the Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene, the McCarren Park Greenmarket and pretty much any place one is apt to encounter fans of Grizzly Bear.
